30 Day Blog Challenge ~ Day 3

My First Love
Relationships come and go, but truly loving someone has only happened to me twice before meeting my husband. I met my first love while I was still a senior in high school and he was a freshmen in college. I was really stricken by his blue eyes and his outgoing personality. He kind of helped me to break out of my shell a little bit. See, in high school I was never the type to stay out late, go to parties, followed everything by the book, and lived a pretty boring life (there really isn't anything bad about being boring, I promise)!

After meeting my first love, I was able to relax a little bit, go with the flow, and not be so uptight. However, I will tell you this, it is a little embarrassing... I remember going to my first college party, and of course alcohol was being served. Well, needless to stay the party didn't last long, because the police department was called. I was so freaked out about being either ticketed or arrested for being around people who were drinking that I actually hid in a back room under a bed. Of course, I looked like a huge nerd, but I had no idea that if you left peacefully with no incident, you wouldn't get into any trouble (well, except for the party throwers).

It was nice having the experienced college boyfriend, especially when I made my way into freshmen year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. We cheered for the Nebraska Cornhuskers every Saturday together. He was able to show me around campus, give me the ins and outs, and was able to help calm my nerves walking amongst thousands of students and professors on a daily basis. I was definitely smitten by him in the beginning, and then fell in love.

The relationship didn't last more than a year, and it was definitely hard to stand on my own two feet again without him. Especially since we lived in the same dorm, shared the same friends, etc. I was so used to having someone by my side, kind of like he was holding my hand and leading me around during one of the most important and valuable times of my life.

We both went on to love again and to live along separate paths God created for us. We still chat every now again, and I'm very glad we can continue to be friends.

30 Day Blog Challenge ~ Day 2

This is the last time we had a picture taken together as a family (Christmas 2010).

3 Men and a Lady came about after I asked my Facebook friends to help me come up with a new blogger name. I had previously used, "Airforce Wife and Mommy", but wanted to have more of an eye-catching name. A friend of mine, Melissa, actually came up with the new name, and I just feel in love with it. It's so fun and definitely fits our family perfectly. Now, if we end up adding to our family in the future, I'm hoping I can still go off of this name. If not, I guess I can always ask for more help. :)

30 Day Blog Challenge ~ Day 1

Day 01 - A Picture of Yourself and Fifteen Facts

1. I met my husband online, and never thought our friendship would later turn into a relationship and then into an engagement and marriage.

2. I'm a strong advocate for breastfeeding, cloth diapering, and natural birth mamas.

3. I love to sing, and am pretty decent at it. I've had the opportunity to sing the Star Spangled Banner at different athletic events, tried out for American Idol, sang in an all-city solo night in high school, and won a preliminary round of "Fame and Fortune".

4. I suffer from anxiety.

5. I'm trying to make the best life possible for my boys, and want them to grow up being sincere and loving, can cook and clean, and be an all-around polite gentlemen.

6. I worked at a summer camp for five years, and I wish I could go back just for one week and be a counselor again...oh the memories of Camp Kitaki. They will forever burn bright in the back of my mind. Definitely looking forward to sending my kids there.

7. I always wear my heart on my sleeve, which sometimes can bring more bad than good. However, I'm always willing to help someone and or be there for someone if need be. I'd rather be known as someone who is too nice, then someone who isn't nice at all!

8. I want to become a Doula.

9. If and when we have a third child, I would like to attempt a VBA2C (Vaginal Birth After "2" C-sections).

10. My sister is my best friend.

11. I really do despise the military, but I also understand if it wasn't for the military we wouldn't have free healthcare, food on our tables, clothes on our backs, and a roof over our head.
**Edited to add, I used the wrong choice of wording here, I'm not a fan of how the military tears families apart due to deployments, etc**

12. I'm scared to die, so much when I think about it, it takes my breath away.

13. I can sometimes be an envious person, especially when I read Facebook statuses regarding vacations to the beach, etc.

14. I'm not good at returning phone calls, nor am I good at making phone calls. (It's kind of hard with two hyper boys).

15. I like to wakeboard!
